Programs by Age Group

Twos
"All the world is a laboratory to the inquiring mind." ~ Martin H. Fischer
We strive to meet our two-year-olds' curiosity with age-appropriate social, physical, and intellectual challenges. Home4Kidz creates settings that make every moment valuable in everything they touch and do.

Threes
"Teach the children so it will not be necessary to teach the adults." ~ Abraham Lincoln
Our three-year-olds are introduced to more structured, age-appropriate learning settings. Children are presented with a variety of themed lessons and hands-on exploration, and have the opportunity to participate in and complete educational learning activities each week.

Fours & Fives
"Let the child be the scriptwriter, the director, and the actor in his own play." ~ Magda Gerber
Our four and five-year-olds continue to develop and maintain their foundational learning skills in preparation for a successful transition to Kindergarten. Lesson plans focus on language and phonics, early literacy, arts and crafts, math, science, structured play, fine and gross motor skills, technology, social studies, and music. It is our goal that every child who graduates from our program meets all criteria defined by the Howard County Public School System for kindergarten readiness.

Preschoolers
"The trouble with over-structuring is that it discourages exploration." ~ Jay Giedd
Preschoolers aged two to five are encouraged to learn and discover new things, pay attention to their environment, develop new social and emotional skills, and grow in independence while supporting one another.

School-Age
"Every day, in 100 small ways, our children ask, 'Do you hear me? Do you see me? Do I matter?'" ~ L.R. Knost
School-age children aged five and above enjoy the comfort of a home-style atmosphere, the opportunity to care for and assist younger children, and the chance to become role models to their peers. They also receive one-on-one attention from caring adults.
A Day in the Life
Every day at Home4Kidz is filled with purposeful activities designed to nurture the whole child.

Storytime
"Don't just teach your kids to read — teach them to question what they read. Teach them to question everything." ~ George Carlin
We absolutely love stories! They hold a very special place in our hearts. We also have a fun activity called "Once Upon a Time Story," where children draw items from a bag and create their own narratives. Throughout the day, we read books that complement what we are teaching. Books are a fantastic way to explore new ideas, expand our horizons, and exercise our creativity — and they help children improve their cognitive abilities.

Active & Outdoor Play
"Children learn as they play. Most importantly, in play, children learn how to learn." ~ O. Fred Donaldson
Our children go outside twice each day, weather permitting. Outdoor play is just as important as our indoor activities. Children use outside time to further their curiosity and develop skills through nature-based play. They also learn to express their ideas, needs, feelings, and thoughts to others during play. Children who regularly enjoy fresh air, sunshine, and exercise also tend to sleep better.

Learning Activities
"Children have real understanding only of that which they invent themselves." ~ Jean Piaget
Art, music, science, and large muscle movement activities deepen children's growth and learning abilities. We plan these activities to correspond with the weekly theme we are exploring. Staying active through music and singing keeps our children moving and engaged. Art and science develop curiosity and the desire to imagine and problem-solve. Whether we are creating art, practicing early writing or math skills, or developing fine motor skills, we sit down as a team to learn and teach each other — building the foundation for teamwork.

Breakfast, Lunch & Snack
"If you keep good food in your fridge, you will eat good food." ~ Errick McAdams
Mealtime is a natural learning opportunity for children to explore nutrition, social and table skills, and cleanliness. They develop a positive attitude toward different types of food, practice making independent choices, build self-esteem, and learn about manners. Small children are encouraged to try new foods with a "practice bite." Most meals are served family style, which promotes self-help, gross motor development, and decision-making. We provide a delicious morning breakfast, morning and afternoon snacks, and a freshly prepared lunch every day.
